Chef John Lopopolo graduated the Culinary Institute of America in 1984 at Del Gado College in New Orleans. Apprenticed under Chef Jean Lafont of Hemsley Palace and Chef Gaspar Stantic out of Dallas. Chef John can proudly say that his original inspiration came from his father "also a chef,” who helped him realize his love for cooking that still carries on today.
Chef John has been the Executive Chef of The Dallas Hilton Inn, Harper’s Corner Dallas, Swan Court Dallas, Avanti Italian Bistro Dallas, Malibu Café Dallas, and The Old Warsaw Dallas.
After fine-tuning his skills in Dallas he moved to Chattanooga. After a brief stay at Michaels Restaurant Chattanooga John brought his vast experience and passion to the Mt. Vernon Restaurant where he has been for the past 6 years.
Chef John’s passion for cooking is evident in his desire to support local community efforts. He was a supporter of the 1988 culinary Olympic team "Dallas Chapter” And Also Winner The 2011 Taste of Chattanooga Chefs Challenge.
The culinary community's recognition of John’s talent was showcased when he catered to the Governor of Tennessee on more than one occasion as well as for President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George Bush’s victory party.
